Green Peach Aphid on canola

Description

The green peach aphid (Myzus persicae) frequently colonizes fields during fall, survive mild winters, and increase to damaging levels in early spring. Green peach aphids feed on the underside of canola leaves. Predatory and parasitic insects contribute to aphid population control, but alone have not been observed to prevent aphids from reaching damaging levels. During and following mild winters, aphid populations become numerous enough to cause significant stand decline and reduce seed production.
